Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes joined fellow State Secretaries Sunday on NBC News’ Meet the Press with host Kristen Welker for a bipartisan discussion of threats to democracy ahead of the 2024 election.

Sec. Fontes stated that misinformation from government officials is the "biggest challenge" they face, labeling it as a bigger problem than any other issue. The Secretaries acknowledged experiencing threats and harassment since the 2020 presidential election, calling it "domestic terrorism" aimed at intimidating election officials.

The Secretaries emphasized their preparedness to address potential threats and ensure a secure voting process in 2024. States like Pennsylvania have established election threat task forces, while Georgia has implemented measures like pre-processing mail-in ballots to expedite result reporting.

The group stressed the importance of transparency, public engagement, and providing accurate information to voters about changes in election procedures. They expressed their commitment to protecting democracy and the integrity of the electoral process.
