Help us fight misinformation during the 2024 election season with this new reporting tool

Windows were covered outside of the room where absentee ballots were counted at TCF Center in Detroit on Nov. 4, 2020. Police had to push back crowds as they argued to be allowed in the vote-counting area.

There's a lot of misinformation on the internet around the 2024 election — and we need your help to spot and combat it.

The Detroit Free Press is partnering with the Center for Media Engagement at The University of Texas at Austin to launch a new community reporting tool for misinformation and disinformation.

As the November general election approaches — especially during a race as unpredictable as this one has been — it's increasingly important to identify inaccurate information. By introducing this tool, we're asking for your help to report possible misinformation and disinformation as you see it on the internet.

This could be a social media post you see floating around that seems off, or an article with information you can't verify. Once we receive your report, we'll take a look at whether there are any common themes between the submissions, and report on any instances where we feel we need to set the record straight.
