VIDEO: Sunscreen misinformation spreading

Social media channels, including Tiktok, are full of videos offering health and medical advice from celebrity and everyday influencers. But a dangerous new trend centers around skin care and sunscreen – or the lack thereof.

False claims that sunscreen is toxic and worse than the sun damage it helps prevent has led to unneccesary skin conditions and even skin cancers.

Sten Vermund, a Yale School of Public Health epidemiology and a licensed pediatrician, joined WTNH-News 8 anchor Ann Nyberg to explain why those claims aren’t true.
