How to Find Local News You Can Trust
How can we determine whether news sources are credible? Local news outlets help us make informed decisions as engaged citizens in a democracy, but the process of creating the news isn’t transparent.
During National News Literacy Week 2024, a free online panel discussion - How to Find Local News You Can Trust - will provide an overview of the news literacy concepts and skills that people need to be reliably informed, with a spotlight on local news. We will pull the curtain back on how quality, ethical journalism is produced and how it seeks to inform the public fairly and accurately.
The live, online event is presented free of charge by News Literacy Project, a nonpartisan education nonprofit building a national movement to create a more news-literate America, and the E.W. Scripps Company, one of the nation’s largest local TV broadcasters, serving communities with quality, objective local journalism.
