Have you shared fake news lately? AI is making us worry that we’ll become part of the problem

It’s the age of generative artificial intelligence, but while the technology races ahead, large cultural questions about how to maintain trust in AI remain unanswered. Adobe surveyed more than 2,000 people in the U.S. about misinformation and their trust in GenAI. Here are some of the findings:

• People are worried about GenAI’s impact on elections: Some 80% of respondents said they believe misinformation and deepfakes will impact future elections, and 78% said that without widespread tools to help them decide whether the content they are consuming is true, political candidates should be banned from using GenAI in campaign materials. In fact, 63% said they would be less likely to vote for someone who uses GenAI in their promotional content during an election.
